Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
ADD either hyperactive/impulsive, inattentive, or a combination of both was formerly labeled ADHD. Attention Deficit Disorder with hyperactivity/impulsivity or Attention Deficit Disorder with inattention is seen in approximately 4 percent of the population, both children and adults within the United States. Symptoms common to attention deficit disorder are either distractibility, impulsivity, hyperactivity, anxiety, and depression or some combination. These symptoms interfere with the ability to function normally in day-to-day activities. Diagnosing this disorder can be difficult since it is common for many people have some level of these symptoms. While the causes of this disorder are not fully understood, there are many available and effective treatments.
